Japanese Film Festival 2022 online for its 5th edition | MorungExpress

Mumbai, Jan 13 (IANS): The fifth edition of the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) will take the virtual route as it will be held online. The Japan Foundation New Delhi made the announcement on Thursday.

The two-week festival, which will celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and India, will screen 20 globally popular Japanese films of various genres and styles from Feb. 14.

The theme that defines the curation of the festival is “Travel” and 20 films have been carefully selected to represent the different aspects of this theme.

Commenting on the announcement, Koji Sato, Managing Director, Japan Foundation, New Delhi, said, “The popularity of Japanese content has increased markedly in the Indian landscape, which has been further fueled by an increase in content consumption in line in the current scenario.

“It was a tough decision to make, but keeping the safety of fans as high as possible, the virtual platform will help us reach a wider audience. We are confident that the festival will be successful and bigger with the platform in online and our beloved audience will be able to experience the same magic and energy as ever,” he added.

The 2022 Japanese Film Festival film catalog includes films like ‘It’s a Summer Film’, ‘Mio’s Cookbook’, ‘Masked Ward’, ‘Under the Open Sky’, ‘Awake’, ‘Aristocrats’, ‘Time of Eve ‘, ‘Ito’, ‘Reverse Patema’, ‘Sumodo – The Successors of the Samurai’, ‘The God of Ramen’, ‘Rashomon’, ‘The Floating Castle’, ‘Happy Flight’, ‘Oz Land’, ‘Up’ at Dawn’, ‘Her Love Boils Bathwater’, ‘The Chef of South Polar’, ‘Bread of Happiness’ and ‘ReLIFE’.
