One of the most popular and beloved shows of the 90s and early 2000s, Takeshi Castle is set to return to the small screen next year. Reboot of “Takeshi’s Castle” in 2023
According to a report by Deadline, the popular Japanese game show Takeshi Castle The reboot version will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon Prime Video users can watch the reboot version in 2023 and it will be available in over 240 markets. Takeshi’s Castle is one of several Japanese originals slated for release internationally as part of Prime’s new focus on expanding its offering in Japan.
According to Deadline, Erika North, Amazon Studios Originals Manager for Asia-Pacific, shared her thoughts on the new venture, saying, “We’re very focused on investing in top Japanese talent to provide highest quality content for our Prime Video. customers in Japan. We believe that spotlighting the best stories of Japanese creators will excite not only our Japanese viewers, but also audiences around the world.

The game show, starring Japanese comedian Takeshi Kitano, shows the comedian acting as the owner of the castle who offers volunteers to participate in a variety of challenging games in order to reach him. The games included physically challenging but tedious tasks such as Dominoes, Big Rolls, Grid Iron, Mushroom Trip and more. For the final round, volunteers are given water guns to destroy paper rings of enemy vehicles while saving their own.
