The 2022 Japanese Film Festival kicks off this Friday

The “Japanese Film Festival 2022” will be held from January 14 to 16, 22 and 23 in Phnom Penh (Major Cineplex by Smart, Aeon Sen Sok City).

The opening of the film festival is scheduled for January 14 from 4:00 p.m. at Hall 3, Major Cineplex of AEON MALL Sen Sok City, Phnom Penh, with the film “Poupelle of Chimney Town”, in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Beautiful -arts, Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, the Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, Mikami Masahiro, and the Director of the Japan Foundation Asia Center Liaison Office in Phnom Penh, Isogaya Hiroyuki.

During the festival, organized by the Japan Foundation, in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy, ​​the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC), selected Japanese films from a wide range of Different categories will be screened at the aforementioned grand theater, the embassy’s press release said, adding that the selection includes drama, mystery, animation, action and comedy.

These films depict various aspects of Japanese life, society and culture and will provide audiences with a good opportunity to learn about Japan and its people, he said.

According to the press release, the 10 Japanese films will be screened with Khmer and English subtitles (dubbed in Khmer for some animations). The screening program is published on the Japanese Film Festival website
